Step Four: The Final Plan

The Final Plan includes the final delivered plan set, and may include a rendered master plan, along with all documents for construction. At this point, the final billing will be invoiced. This meeting should include all stakeholders, so any discussions about the design can be addressed prior to construction. This is the stage of greatest satisfaction. A beautiful plan, and moving on to construction. What can go wrong now, right? The Final Plan meeting is where we discuss all that can, as well as how it will all work. A little daunting, nearly every time, but definitely exciting, nonetheless.

Final Plan Goals

Goals for the Final Plan meeting include:

  • Agreement on entire plan by all stakeholders
  • Any change requests be fully documented and agreed on by all
  • Creation of Construction Calendar
  • Discuss and approve the project installation estimate
  • Identify construction contractor

Design Plan Steps:

The Concept Plan is the first official plan and meeting, and establishes the direction of the design in diagram form, and establishes designer/client relationship.

The Preliminary Plan is the first overall plan set, and is mostly complete with the exception of details and material counts, which will be complete in the Final Plan phase.

The Final Plan will include all information and drawings necessary to install the design. Upon delivery of the Final Plan set, the contractor can be brought in and construction meetings can begin.
